Construction work at Amani Tiwi Beach Resort is currently well underway and the resort is set to open later on this year.  There is a beehive of activity with the roofing structure currently being put in place.  It is expected that roofing will be by the middle of next month at which point decorating and furnishing will begin.  The Coffee Shop, Business Centre, Administration Building and Main Restaurant have all been built and are ready for plastering, decorating and furnishing.

Amani Tiwi Beach Resort prides itself on being able to cater for the needs of a diverse clientele.  For this reason, 4 new rooms are being built to accommodate people with disabilities.  These rooms will include wider doors for people with wheelchairs, ramps for easy access and easy access bathroom facilities.  The resort aims to become more easily accessible for people with disabilities.  In Addition to the Standard and superior room categories that were available before, the resort is now also  introducing 16 deluxe superior rooms which will be decorated and furnished to the highest of standards.

The new decor for Amani Tiwi Beach Resort has now been confirmed and management is currently in the process of procuring materials such as tiles for the floors and materials for the furniture.  The theme of the decor is very much in keeping with the resorts philosophy to be more conscientious of the environment and will use eco friend materials where possible in the furnishing and decoration.  The design of the resort is chic and flowing with natural colours and influence taken from nature and the ocean.

The resort is set to open later on this year and we will be confirming the opening date shortly. Reconstruction work is well underway and interior decor has now been confirmed.  The first phase shall open later this year with phases 2 and 3 following.  Whilst retaining many of its original features, several new and exciting upgrades have been introduced at Amani Tiwi Beach Resort.  The first phase shall see Amani Tiwi Beach Resort launch with: 

• 212 impressively decorated rooms
• 5 restaurants
• A fantastic range of water sports with an onsite diving school
• A thematic kids club
• Tennis courts
• Massage facilities
• Beauty parlour and many other recreational facilities.
• a business centre and conference facilities available for the business traveller
• A range of packages to suit the needs of all clients

 The resort has a philosophy to be attentive and respectful to different needs and the environment.  It is unique from most other coastal hotels in Mombasa as it is Eco Friendly and has taken many steps to ensure that the environment is cared for.  Examples of this include: 

• The Introduction of solar panels to make the most of the abundant Kenyan sunshine to provide power for the resort,
• Planting an organic vegetable garden, the produce from which will be used in the kitchens
• The introduction of composting of kitchen waste
• The introduction of eco-friendly sports such as kayaking, Boogie Boarding and Windsurfing (to name a few) to protect the marine life around Tiwi.

The Adventure, Family and Romance Adverts for Amani Tiwi Beach Resort

Amani Tiwi Beach Resort used the opportunity at WTM to re-launch its advertising campaign for winter 2009 and summer 2010.  Three adverts were unveiled in:

• About Kenya
• Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers (KAHC) Guide
• Msafiri Magazine (Kenya Airways in flight Magazine)

A fourth advert is to be unveiled in 2010, just prior to the opening of the resort.  Each advert has been designed to show the range of diversity Amani Tiwi Beach resort has and the different  elements of  ‘Paradise Under African Skies’…. so keep a look out.

Amani Tiwi Beach Resort in November 2009 issue of Msafiri Magazine

Amani Tiwi Beach Resort has been named as one of the three properties in Msafiri (KQ In-flight Magazine) ‘Wish List’.  The ‘Wish list’ selects three properties that KQ would like to fly you for their next break.   The resort has been featured in the KQ ‘Wish list’ for two consecutive issues and is the only beach resort to be mentioned.

Amani Tiwi Beach Resort (TBR) recently participated in the World Travel Market (WTM), which took place at the ExCeL Arena in London between the 9^th and 12^th November 2009.  WTM is an annual 4 day business to business event for travel professionals and delegates from all over the world, allowing them to meet new professionals and keep up to date with the most recent developments in the travel industry.  Additionally it attracts many personalities and this year at WTM to mention a few famous faces who visited were Danni Minogue and Miss Universe.

Amani TBR was situated at the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) Stand, with various other delegates from Kenya and Key personnel, including the Kenyan Minister of Tourism the Honourable Mr. Najib Balala. Representatives from Amani Tiwi Beach Resort used this unique opportunity to network, conduct business and inform the industry and public of all new developments at the resort.

Amani Tiwi Beach Resort will be re-built to compliment the original Beach Resort, whilst including some new and exciting features as well as a new and unique décor.

The Resort will introduce:

• A new thematic kid’s club

• A new beach restaurant offering a variety of cuisine, complimented by local Swahili spices and recipes.

The layout will complement the original resort, allowing for the fresh breeze to travel softly through, whilst offering breath taking views of the Indian Ocean.

The new decor will feature a warm and inviting coastal interior that is functional yet unique.  Rich earthy tones will be incorporated in the colour scheme with elements inspired from the local coastal, Swahili and African cultures.

The resort’s philosophy to be attentive and respectful to the environment is reflected in the design and use of environmentally sustainable materials wherever possible.  In keeping with the eco-friendly aspect, the peaceful ambience will be enhanced by the use of local plants and trees both around the hotel and in the rooms.
