I have visited the Tiwi a couple of times and you do have a special setting.
There is a lack of Spas in Mombasa, a spa is something that is a good selling point, espically after a long safari!
Half Board with an all inclusive option is preferable as this tends to offer more choice and often provides better quality food and beverages.
Also is the new proposed name Kenya Hotel? If so to be honest it does sound like it should be a 2* on the North Coast…..sorry!

I have visited the Tiwi Beach Resort a few times. I was saddened to learn of the fire, but happy to know that something new is coming back. How refereshing a new resort in Mombasa (Overdue in my opinion). Eco tourisme is the way to go, so happy to learn that the owners are taking this into consideration. My suggestion is that you move the children’s club closer to the main hotel and make bettter use of the area that was where the discotheque used to be. I agree with Darren and feel that having both HB and AI is the way to go as it allows a larger scope of cliential. Good Luck and look forward to all the exciting updates and development on the new hotel.
Be “ECO-FRIENDLY”
1) Put all the Bio degradable matter (Waste from kitchen) in a “Silo”, as it decomposes, harness “Methane gas” thus produced. Burn this to heat water, which can turn a turbine to create electricity which can charge batteries. The power is stored and can be used later (Likened to INVERTORS)
2) Glad to read that where possible you will use local craftsmen & material-I offer a design, inspired by sea life. The half-drop repeat pattern can be used whole or in part for soft furnishing/Linens, skirting for buffet tables + single motif can be embroidered on towels, Tee-shirts. ENHANCE TABLE SETTING WITH “RUNNER” etc etc
3) Add feature like water-fall over rocks on the long stretch of swimming area + Arrange Gigantic URNS (in subtle pale tones)
4) If the roof of the dining area is high, consider a system of wafting breeze when its hot(When the tide is out). Long lengths of “Amarikani” attached length-wise on poles move gently to/fro creating draught….inspired by homes in India & Far East
5) How about a Al Fresco roof-top restaurant to enjoy the magical evenings
My head is swimming with ideas and possibilities are immense and astounding….very exciting project!!!

Here are a few suggestions of improvement for the new resort:
a) Keep the name “Tiwi Beach Resort” or similar “Tiwi Palm Beach Resort”
b) Keep the pools the way they were – they are beautiful landscaped pools with plenty of space for everyone
c) The beach setting was so fantastic – the palm-lined beach with sun loungers directly on the beach was beautiful, please keep that this way and re-plant coconut palms here and then
d) Refurbishment of the rooms, re-decorate with light colours and furniture in a wooden style, large four poster bed, sitting area on the balcony
e) Plant palm trees in the resort area and colourful flowers everywhere (Frangipani etc), which helps create a lovely tropical holiday paradise
This was just some of our ideas! We`re sure your new resort will be wonderful and we look forward visiting in the future!
Ich freue mich sehr darüber dass das Hotel wieder aufgebaut wird. Der Name Tiwi Beach Resort sollte nicht geändert werden. Mr. John Ambari, einer der Executive Cheffs, hat seine hervorragenden und langjährigen Führungsqualitäten unter Beweiss gestellt. Er ist daher wie geschaffen für den Posten des General Managers. Yes we can, – Yes he can! Nach der Umbauphase wäre dieser Mann dafür wie geschaffen. Das Hotelmanagement sollte diesmal eine erfahrene Leitung suchen. All inclusive sollte bleiben . Das hatten wir eine zeitlang vermisst. Auch die Poolanlage war unübertroffen schön und sollte daher nicht verändert werden. Meine Frau aber auch meine Freunde, die dieses Hotel jährlich besuchten freuen sich auf einen Neuanfang. Wir freuen uns jetzt schon darauf, unser Tropisches Paradies, welches zu einer zweiten Heimat wurde, bald wieder besuchen zu können.
Hi! I would like to see a large children’s club with an indoor play area for the evenings when parents can go for dinner and leave their children with the child minders.
An in-house library where we can borrow books to read and a DVD library to watch a choice of movie in the comfort of our own room late at night.
A lovely spa with all the trims would be a great way to unwind and maybe a yoga session every morning and evening would be a lovely way to start and end the day. A well equipped gym with all the facilities like steam and sauna as well as jacuzzi.
Baby pools with slides would be great fun for the kids.
Have visited Tiwi Beach afew years ago and was saddened at the news of the fire and cant believe the damaged caused.
A facility that we would like to see there would be an outdoor jacuzzi for relaxation and winding down!
Glad to know that Tiwi Beach will be up and running soon and will be able to visit in the near future.
Africa is definitely selling at the moment and what I am being asked for mostly are unique, boutique hotels with a spa and really good food, and as most people visit Kenya to see animals, I would also suggest some sort of small animal or bird sanctuary to give it uniqueness
I would suggest keeping the name or a similar name as it is quite distinctive, decorating rooms in neutral colours and local art work. Africa is definitely selling and what guests want is character, a spa, uniqueness and really good cuisine. Bearing the uniqueness in mind I think a small animal or bird sanctuary would be a definite selling point
This seems to me to be a great opportunity to launch a really good premium all-inclusive package. Unlike some of the other posters I wouldn’t offer HB and AI, but stick to just one concept. Premium, high-quality all-inclusive packages like the Naiade Resorts “Pure Discovery” or Beachcomber’s “Serenity Plus” sell really well – people want more than buffets and cheap cocktails these days so a la carte dining with no surcharges, branded alcohol, perhaps even a champagne, spa treatments, all the water sports and so on should be included. I don’t think anyone is offering this on the Kenyan coast so this would be a really great opportunity to set yourselves apart from the competition and offer something unique, which sells really well in other parts of the world. I know I would sell a lot of this combined with safaris.
I was saddened to hear of the Fire but glad to see that you are looking for new ideas. I thinks when the rooms are decorated you should have various grades of luxury incorporating some suites and Honeymoon rooms with Four Poster Beds. Something that is lacking in Kenya is Adult only resorts which are often requested by clients, I understand that this restricts the clientel so if you could have an adult only wing with a Restaurant and Pool area that is for adults only I am sure it would be a good selling point.

Dass dieses schöne Hotel den Flammen zum Opfer fiel ist sehr schade.
Dennoch sehe ich einen Neuanfang entgegen. Auch ich hoffe dass ich bald wieder nach Kenja und somit in Ihr Hotel kommen kann.
Ich habe bereits 5 Mal dieses Hotel besucht, und freue mich auf weitere Besuche. Das All Inclusive sollte bleiben. Man fühlt sich dann im Urlaub freier. Die Küche hatte ja schon einen hervorragenden Ruf. Herr Ambari bewies nicht nur Kenjanische sondern auch hervorragende Europäische Kochkunst, was auf seine langjährige Erfahrung beruht.
Mr. John Ambari war unter den Urlaubsgästen sehr beliebt und repräsentierte das Hotel hervorragend . Sein persönliches Angagement war immer präsend. Jeder Mitarbeiter im Hotel war sehr angagiert und zuvorkommend. Deshalb fühlten wir uns fast schon wie zuhause. Ich würde Herrn Ambari für den Posten des Generalmanagers vorschlagen da er mit den Gegebenheiten vor Ort bestens vertraut ist.
Das abendliche Unterhaltungsprogramm sollte etwas dem Niveau eines 4 Sterne Hotels angepasst werden und das Programm auf mindestens 2 Wochen erweitert werden um Wiederholungen zu vermeiden.
Gespräche mit anderen Gästen bei meinen letzten Aufenthalt haben meine Meinung bestätigt.
Ich wünsche dem Hotel einen baldigen und guten Neustart.
I would suggest having Sala’s spread out on the beach, with white netting and linen. These would be ideal for couples/honeymooners as they would be private. You could even do Spa treatments such as massages on the beach. Maybe have a wine cellar/room where guests can go and select there choice of wine to have with their meal. You could then offer wine tasting evenings and do private dinning in there. You could also offer private beach dinners at sunset.For the rooms I would suggest keeping the dark wood and using white bed linen, keep the rooms fresh and clean, then have local kenyan art and crafts. Offer story telling in the evenings for children so the parents can enjoy a dinner for just the two of them.
Da ich schon mehrere male ihr Hotel besucht habe, würde ich es schön finden, wenn die Poolanlage so erhalten bleibt. Das Essen und die Exklusive Küche war bisher immer hervorragend, auch der Service sollte in der Gewohnten Weise erhalten bleiben. Deshalb würde ich mir All in Clusive wünschen.
John Ambari, der bisher als exekutive Manager in ihrem Hotel beschäftigt war, lernte ich als sehr hervorragenden Angestellten kennen. Er half mir meine Wünsche zu erfüllen. Ich war sehr zufrieden. Deshalb würde ich Ihn als Generalmanager vorschlagen. Mit Ihm hätte des Management eine erfahrene Hotelleitung. Wie die Sweten gestalten wahren, sollte das ganze Hotel erneuert werden.
Ich würde mich freuen, wenn ich sie bald wieder besuchen könnte.

Hallo. Der Name beschreibt das Hotel und Ambiente perfekt. All Inclusive sollte auch im Programm bleiben .Die Küche ist sehr sehr lecker : von mir viele Sterne dafür , ein großes LOB ! Die Poolanlage ist himmlisch schön und ich freue mich schon jetzt auf ein Bad in Ihren wunderbaren Anlagen. Für die Leitung würde ich eine Erfahrene, Kompetente sowie wirklich Pflichtbewusste!! Person welche sich auch für meine auch noch so kleinen Probleme eingestzt hat: JOHN AMBARI vorschlagen! Ja er ist perfekt für General Manager! Perfekt für so ein wunderbares Hotel . Ich und meine Freunde können kaum erwarten das Hotel wieder zu sehen.
Ich bedauere das dieses schöne Hotel abgebrannt ist und begrüsse den Wiederaufbau.

Die fantastische Küche mit den verschiedenen Themen ist ein kulinarisches Highlight dieses Hotels und sehr zu begrüssen.
Die Einrichtung des Hotels nach der Renovierung war sehr geschmackvoll und dem Niveau eines 4 Sterne Hotels angemessen.
Leider war die Hotelleitung (General Manager) bei unseren letzten Aufenthalt mehr auf die weiblichen Gäste fixiert als auf das Wohl des Hotels. Dieses ist unter holidaycheck nachzulesen.
Ich würde einen raschen Wiederaufbau des Hotels begrüssen und gerne wieder meinen Urlaub dort verbringen.
Mit Bestürzung hörte ich von dem Brand im Tiwi Beach Resort, wo ich als Gast bereits zwei mal eine sehr erholsame und genussvolle Zeit verbracht habe und dem ich noch gerne viele weitere Besuche abgestattet hätte. Aufgrund der Einzigartigkeit und Schönheit des Tiwi sind die Betreiber fast dazu gezwungen, die Anlage wieder aufzubauen – dabei ist vor allem wichtig, am gehobenen Standard der Anlage vor dem Unglück anzuknüpfen. Vom All-inclusive-Konzept sollte nicht abgerückt werden, da gerade ein Pauschalangebot eine reuelose und freie Nutzung der vielen Angebote des Hotels ermöglicht. Verbesserungswürdig ist unter Umständen das Abendprogramm, dem etwas mehr Abwechslung gut zu Gesicht stehen würden. Ansonsten wünsche ich mir lediglich, dass der schönen Einrichtungsstil und die Poolanlagen der Vorgängeranlage erhalten bleiben. Auch der Service ist kaum zu verbessern, so war er stets sehr zuvorkommend, dabei jedoch nicht zu aufdringlich.
Am meisten begeisterte mich das kulinarische Angebot des Tiwi, was vor allem an den Fähigkeiten des Küchenchefs Mr. Ambari lag. Ich lernte in Mr. Ambari einen stets hilfsbereiten und am Wohl seiner Gäste interessierten Angestellten kennen, den ich ausdrücklich als neuen General Manager empfehlen kann.
In diesem Sinne hoffe ich auf ein baldiges Wiedersehen mit dem Hotel in neuem Glanz.
In einen Neuanfang steckt immer erst einmal eine Planungsphase.
Sie machen es richtig. Die Meinung der Gäste die schon einmal dieses traumhaft schöne Land und somit auch das Tiwi Beach Resort besucht haben ist Ihnen wichtig. Nicht umsonst hat das Hotel so viele Gäste die immer wieder kommen.
Die Bauweise, welche im tratitionellen afrikanischen Stil war sollte erhalten bleiben. Die Einrichtung, afrikanisch rustikal.
Das A.I. – Konzept könnte verbessert werden.
Die Drinks und Coktails an der Bar ließen zu wünschen übrig. Hier fehlte das Nevau eines 4 Sterne Hotells. Denn gerade hiermit fängt ein schöner und sorgloser Uraub an.
Das Abendprogramm war sehr dürftig, auch hier ist vieles verbesserungswürdig und einem 4 Sternehotell anzupassen.
Die Küche des Hotells hat 5 Sterne verdient. Die Themenabende aber auch die Deutsche Küche waren ein kullinarisches Erlebniss. Was nicht zuletzt Ihren Küchencheff Herrn Ambari zu verdanken ist. Ich habe dies auch bei ihrer Hotellbefragung zum schriftlich zum Ausdruck gebracht.
Ich konnte mich auch persönlich bei Herrn Ambari bedanken. Dieser Mann war stets auf das Wohlergehen seiner Gäste bedacht. Er war stets präsent und nahm jeden, noch so kleinen Wunsch ernst.
Ich erlebte einen traumhaften Urlaub.
Dass das Hotellmanagement diese Umfrage macht, zeigt Initiative und Bereitschaft zu Neuem, aber auch Verantwortung seinen Gästen gegenüber.
Da ich den Führunsstil und die ausgezeichnete Qualifikation von Herrn Ambari kennenlernte, welche sehr europäisch geprägt sind, empfehle ich dem Management des Hotels, diesen Mann als General Manager einzusetzen.
Hiermit würden Land und Hotel vorzüglich vertreten.
Ich schließe mich hiemit der Meinung von anderen Teilnehmern aus diesem Blog an und kann dass nur bestätigen.
Auch ich begrüße einen raschen Wiederaufbau und würde mich über ein “Jambo” und ein baldiges Wiedersehen freuen.

Der Name TIWI BEACH RESORT sollte auf jeden Fall bleiben, denn er steht für Quallität! Der Pool war fantastisch und sollte auch wieder so sein. Dazu viele Palmen und vieleicht zwischen den Palmen, zu den Sonnenliegen auch ein paar gemütliche Hängematten, wo man so richtig entspannen und abhängen kann. Die Küche war sehr lecker und sollte GENAU SO BLEIBEN! Nur das Management sollte erneuert werden, da haben wir Herrn JOHN AMBARI als sehr pflichtbewusten Menschen kennengelernt und er würde diesen Job besser ausfüller als der bisherige. Er geht wundervoll auf die Wünsche der Gäste ein und ist stehts bemüht, diese auch zu verwirklichen! Herrvorragend!!! Die Zimmer könnten etwas mehr von dem Charm der Sweeten haben, aber sie waren o.K. Das “Kinderparadies” könnte etwas größer sein und auch näher bei den “Erwachsenen”! Die Kinder sind unsere Zukunft und das sollten alle sehen und hören, wie gut es ihnen geht! Ansonsten kann ich nur sagen, weiter wie bisher und ran an die Arbeit!
Hallo, also das Tiwi Beach Resort war KLASSE und der Name sollte auf jeden Fall auch bleiben! Genauso wie die Küche, wo sich die Köche , vor allem aber John Ambari, voll und ganz auf die Wünsche der Gäste ein gegangen sind! Super! Auch der Stil der Zimmer, hell und freundlich mit einen Hauch von Luxus. All In sollte auch beibehalten werden, den die Zeit “OHNE” war nicht sehr angenehm! Ich trage im Hotel nicht gerne den Geldbeutel mit mir herum, oder möchte alles aufs Zimmer schreiben lassen. Das Hotel braucht viele Bäume, wo man zwischen den Bäumen schöne Hängematten hängen kann, damit man sich so richtig entspannen und relaxen kann. Am Besten noch in kleinen Grüppchen mit Liegen, denn es finden sich immer einige Gäste, die dann den Urlaub mehr oder auch weniger zusammen verbringen. Das Management sollte erneuert werden! Da wir Herrn JOHN AMBARI als sehr pflichtbewusten und hilfsbereiten Menschen kennen gelernt haben, wäre es empfehlenswert, wenn er Genaral Manager werden würde! Das wäre eine Bereicherung und Aufwertung des Tiwi Beach Resorts!Auf ein baldiges Wiedersehen Paul
Der Urlaub im Hotel war ein Erlebnis. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Auf jeden Fall sollte der Name des Hotels erhalten bleiben, einen treffenderen kann ich mir gar nicht vorstellen. Die Poolanlage hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen. Das Hotel- personal war immer freundlich. Besonders zuvorkommend war Herr Ambari. Wir durften ihn glücklicherweise persöhnlich kennen lernen. Darum möchten wir uns einigen Leuten anschließen, die schon vor uns geschrieben haben. Herr Ambari ist wirklich eine sehr gute Wahl für den General- Manager. Er hat die nötige Kompetenz und die besten Vorraussetzungen für diesen Job.

Very sad to hear what happend to the hotel. Glad to hear that nobody was injured. We are a swedish family that visited and was stuck at Tiwi Beach Resort over New Year 2007/2008 when Kenya was hit by the violence that followed the elections. Despite all the chaos around we found Tiwi Beach Resort a safe haven. The embassy advised us to stay at the hotel but a better “prison” couldn’t be found. The location is perfect, The beach was fantastic, not crowded and the coral reef so near that you are able to snorcle directly from the beach. Maybe some more palms to get more shadow in the middle of the day.
The pool had a marvellous architecture and was so large! Keep it that way, but maybe add an area with slides, waterfalls etc. for children to play in. More plants, trees and flowers in the garden would also enhance the beauty.
The children loved the pancake chef at afternoon tea – keep him! The adults would appreciate more fish and shellfish at the dinner menu.
The rooms should be refurnished with a local touch in a relaxing way with a harmony in colours, not too luxury. Room with connecting doors is a good idea to use the rooms in a more flexible way.
A special area indoors (with roof and walls for the wind)to play in is another idea, for example with table tennis and billiards.
As many others we think the eco-friendly theme is coming more and more. It is also of importance to keep to the locally produced. And of course nice, helpful and friendly staff (as it was when we were there) is crucial for the success of the hotel.
But why change a good name? – Keep Tiwi Beach Resort!

I had the pleasure to stay twice at your lovely and friendly hotel and I look to the future with much optimism for a grand-reopening at Tiwi!
My first suggestion is that you search for a first class architect with lots of experience.
At the same time, we have in Kenya excellent Interior Designers who would be an asset to your new development.
Visit the new Design Centre, Spinner’s Web and other creative partners, off Peponi Rd.,Nairobi, opening as from 14th March, 2009.
So please do not take any short cuts, go for the best!

We were so sad to hear about the recent fire at Tiwi Brach Resort and devastated that we couldn’t return with our family for our eight visit in February.
How we missed the high roof of the public spaces, the open airiness of the reception area, and having a mosquito net over the bed at the hotel we were relocated to. Most of all we missed the helpful willingness and efficient friendliness of the staff.
We have returned to Tiwi so many times because of its tranquil location, friendly staff and understated but beautiful buildings and grounds. Take what Tiwi does so well and build on this for the future.
Like many of the previous posters on this site we too would like to see the ‘reborn’ Tiwi adopt eco-friendly features like solar water heating.
What ever you decide to do just use the best materials and resources you possibly can, maintain at least the levels of service you have traditionally offered and serve only the best quality food and drink and you will keep your guests happy.
Please retain the the simplicity of the rooms, we love the space and parquet floors in the bedrooms, so please keep these features and enhance them with locally made furniture, local art work and finish the rooms with crisp white linen and big white fluffy towels. Could the ideas used in the superior rooms be extended into the other rooms?
When re-designing the dining room make the most of those wonderful Indian Ocean views and cooling breezes. It was always magical to be allocated an ocean view table in the dining room so a design that allows as many people as possible to experience such a location would make good sense.
We love the pools, so taking this opportunity to do the necessary repairs to the fabric of the pools and plant rooms to maintain the crystal clear water quality would be worth while. The children really enjoy sliding down the slopes between the pools when the water flows down them. A jacuzzi with seating would be a welcome addition.
Taking the opportunity to update and revamp the treatment rooms, sauna, turkish bath, gym and sports facilities to offer a modern spa experience would be welcome by other guests and ourselves.
Having the different food outlets was always enjoyed by us and we liked how the Indian and Chinese restaurants were decorated to match the food they served. Our favourite was always the Italian restaurant on the beach, could this be enhanced with a stone pizza oven like the one at the Sands at Nomad? We would like to see more traditional African food on the menu like the food served on the themed African Nights which were always very special occasions.
We were always sad the the Diamonds nightclub was under used, could the night club be made smaller/more intimate so it takes fewer people to get the place ‘pumping’.
Can we suggest that a beautiful area is developed to host weddings and special occasions and this space is located in a place where the photographs taken do not have a backdrop of swimming strangers
It is the simple little things that make Tiwi so special :-
The staff who always smile and greet you every time you meet them
How the staff work as a team, it is reassuring to know that it didn’t matter who on the staff team you asked/told, things would get done either because the message was passed on or they did it themselves
The waiters evening parade and song to open the dining room made dinner every evening an occasion
The fact the room staff take the time to pick a fresh flower to put on your bed sometimes
Being allocated a specific table and waiter in the dining room allows you to build a relationship with that waiter, it makes such a difference when someone remembers that you like your tea weak but not milky
The beautifully kept and maintained grounds
The little things that would make Tiwi absolutely perfect for us:
Good quality crockery and cutlery
The table laid properly, with enough cutlery for every course, at least at dinner time
The opportunity to take longer over dinner in the evening – we would rather have less choice and be served our meal in the evening and not have buffet style evening meals.
Enough drinking glasses so they aren’t being whisked away to be washed – the resulting warm drinking glasses were always slightly annoying.
We are very excited about the new improved Tiwi rising like the legendary Phoenix from the ashes of the old Tiwi and can’t wait to return in February 2010 or soon if the rebuild is done sooner.
We can perhaps understand why Tiwi is to be renamed and branded as it has never quiet lost the past link with Travellers, however Tiwi in the name does say exactly where the hotel is located making it easy to use Goggle Earth and this fantastic web resource does allow potential clients to see that the hotel is not situated in a ‘resort area’ like the hotels along Diani Beach.

I was due to stay at the Tiwi in February and had to change accommodation at the last minute. I have stayed at the Tiwi many times since 1998 and I got married there in 2005. I have seen many changes over the years, some good and some bad. I do not think the name should change – it has an exclusive and individual ring to it. I think one of the problems the hotel suffered in terms of clientele was it was neither one thing nor the other. It tried too hard to get too wide a range of clientele. I think it needs to make its mind up what it wants to be. I agree that the childrens club should replace the disco which was virtually unused. It would be nice to keep activities up the top end of the pool and let the bottom, beach end, have peace and quiet. Also keep the noise down. I think owing to the more isolated position it would be better aiming at a predominantly lower A, B, top end C1 market. Make it a little quieter, more exclusive and better service. Offer AI but charge for it. The only 2 non overly commercial hotels that provide for real relaxation and peaceful atmosphere are Hemingways which is exorbitant, and the Indian Ocean Beach Club which is fabulous (just got back) but hasn’t really got anything for children. Maybe Tiwi can fill the gap. Other than that, it would have to go mega cheap vfm because it hasn’t got a great beach for kids and isn’t close to any other amenities. Another idea, not as expensive as a spa, would be an ayvurdic centre, with reasonable prices. Much better to sell 50 massages a day at ks600 than 10 a day ks1200 They could also provide a yoga and meditation room. This would help make it a retreat. One thing is certain – in order to be competitive it needs to find a niche.
pS Loved the rooms as they were and please dont change the pool.
Mein letzter Urlaub in Ihrem Hotel war unvergesslich.Das Personal war überaus freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Ambiente des Hotels war sehr ansprechend und mir hatte vorallem die Poolanlage sehr gut gefallen. Ich finde nach dem Brand sollte das Hotel nebenst Poolanlage wieder aufgebaut werden. Auch finde ich ein neuer Manager würde dem Hotel gut tun. Bei meinem letzten Besuch lernte ich Herrn John Ambari kennen und denke er wäre ein guter General- Manager für das Tiwi Beach Resort – Hotel.
Für die weitere Zukunft wünsche ich dem Hotel alles Gute.
Wir waren 2006 im TIWI und wir haben uns rundherum wohl gefühlt. Den Namen sollte man auf keinen Fall ändern. So einen Pool wie im TIWI findet man nicht häufig in Kenia. Wir waren auch vom Personal begeistert. Wir wurden stets freundlich und zuvorkommend behandelt. Wir haben uns schon ein bisschen wie im Paradies gefühlt. Da wir noch ´Kontakt zu einem Mitarbeiter des Hotels haben, wünschen wir uns natürlich auch für ihn und die anderen fleißigen Helfer, dass die Hotelanlage wieder aufgebaut wird.

Having supplied you with internet & mail services for the past few years, i have had a lot of chance to visit Tiwi Beach Resort for various reasons. To me, it was an excellent place. I felt very sorry about the incident that happened. Anyway, since you are restructuring it afresh, we would like you to try as much as possible reduce the ‘makuti’ roofing system and do the same what was done in the rooms.,as in concrete slab then makuti on top. Note that this has helped a lot during the fire outbreak.

I often dream about the beautyful time in Kenya, in Tiwi. This year, in July, my fianceand me, we celebrate our wedding, so we want to go to Tiwi back for our honeymoon. Unfortunately it is impossible, but we will waiting and we will come back, as soon, as you have one bad for us!

Nous sommes clients du Tiwi depuis 1999, nous avons séjourné huit fois dans votre hôtel et devions revenir pour la neuvième fois dès le 9 février. Pour un séjour de 5 semaines
Malheureusement, suite à l’incendie, nous sommes allés à l’Indiana votre voisin.
Trop tard, à notre retour nous avons découvert sur internet votre blog, concours d’idées pour la restauration du Tiwi.
Vous devriez profiter de la reconstruction pour installer :
des panneaux solaires sur les toits, et des panneaux photovoltaïques pour la production d’électricité.
Ce qui vous rendrait indépendant de la compagne électrique. Vous n’auriez plus de panne de courant qui sont fréquentes, et qui vous oblige à mettre le générateur en fonction. Celui-ci fait un bruit très désagréable pour les chambres situées près du baobab et avec la hausse du fuel vous coûte très cher.
L’électricité photovoltaïque est gratuite. L’investissement en vaut la peine et fait office de toiture contre la pluie. Les panneaux se fixent directement sur la charpente. Donc c’est une économie lors d’une nouvelle construction
Des panneaux pour la fabrication de l’eau chaude sanitaire. Vous avez du soleil en quantité et l’eau chaude est, elle aussi gratuite. Des frais généraux très importants seraient supprimés.
Vu les très grands toits que vous avez, il y a largement la place pour les deux systèmes. Et vous rend indépendant des livraisons d’électricité et de fuel.
Nous avons chez nous en Suisse, pays froid, sur la maison 4 ² m de panneaux qui nous fournissent 80 % de l’eau chaude pour cinq personnes.
Quelques améliorations à faire.
Poser des carrelages non glissants, car dès qu’il pleut ou que les gens sortent de la piscine et vont vers le restaurant, le sol devient dangereux. Il en est de même pour les trois rampes qui vont au restaurant, au coffee-shop et entre le bar et la réception.
Poser des mains courantes aux escaliers du restaurant, entre le bar et les toilettes et à la bonne hauteur pour des adultes. Celles qui y étaient, étaient à la hauteur des enfants.
N’oubliez pas qu’un bon nombre de vos clients ne sont pas tous jeunes.
Si vous rénovez des salles de bain, ne remettez pas des baignoires avec bulles d’air « jacuzzi ». L’eau stagne dans l’installation et rouille. Elle sort brun-rouge et en plus ce n’est pas bon pour la santé « maladie du légionnaire ». Cela sent aussi très mauvais.
Remplacez aux baignoires le système à tringle qui se bloque continuellement donc plus moyen de vider, par des bouchons en caoutchouc.
Et des moustiquaires à toutes les fenêtres des chambres apporteraient plus de confort.
Au restaurant :
Plus de variété dans les menus. Pour les clients qui séjournent plusieurs semaines, c’est trop répétitif.
Au coffee-shop plus de petites restaurations légères. Yoghourts, fruits,
Le bus navette qui se rend à Diani coûte beaucoup trop cher. Les clients ont envie de sortir. Vous devriez offrir ce service à prix coûtant. Pour ma part, je traverse la rivière et prend le matatu à 20 ksh la course.
Gardez l’avantage que vous avez sur les autres hôtels. Celle d’avoir du personnel à la réception et aux restaurants qui parlent le français, qui est chaleureux et très serviable et compétent.
Essayez pour la Suisse d’avoir à nouveau d’autres agences de voyages qu’ Hotelplan, qui a l’exclusivité depuis quelques années, et qui lorsqu’on demande une offre dans une agence ne propose jamais le Tiwi et en plus le vend très cher.
Les premières années nous sommes venus avec Beach Safaris ( Monsieur Schmuki à
CH 8802 KILCHBERG-Zurich) petite agence qui vend que le Kenya et la Tanzanie à des prix raisonnables.
En espérant que ces réflexions vous aideront à refaire un beau Tiwi, et que nous aurons à nouveau le plaisir d’y séjourner. Actuellement nous ne savons pas encore si nous pourrons répondre à l’invitation de Madame Shaheen Chandbhai, et venir à l’inauguration en novembre.

I`m very sorry to learn that fire destroyed your very nice and beautiful hotel. Hopefully it will be build up nearly in the same way as it was perfect. Good to hear that nobody injured. I am sincerely sorry to hear about the loss you incurred at Tiwi Beach Resort but I know you will rise up again stronger and my prayer is that you will soar and be the highest star under the African Skies! I have been to the resort and I loved its location quiet and serine, the open spaces, the many different restaurants, the friendly staff and the swimming pool is huge!
Albeit late for the competition – I would also suggest a Spa – offering full spa experience; a boutique – showcasing African designer clothes and artifacts; if you can get all the rooms to have a view of the ocean/beach that would be such a plus!
All the best with the renovations, re branding and repositioning the resort and I look forward to visiting soon.

I feel very sorry about the accident. I am glad, that you take it as a chance to get it better than before.
I think to rebuild that ressort in the same kind as it was before, is the best. Because you got one of the best beaches. And the Hotel should give a feeling of Africa, like before.
The Beach ist much better than Diani.
You got the only Hotel at this Beach! Palms at the Beach and save from high tide.
The pools and the garden are one of the best composition, I have ever seen.
Take care, that there are enough lies and enough shadow for all visitors. For evening it would be nice, if everybody is able to find a good seat after lunch to take some drinks.

we have been to the former Tiwi Beach twice and loved it so much. It was very sad to hear about the fire.
The fantastic location, the whole compound, the pool, the delicious food and the lovely staff – what more can you wish for a great resort?
I am very curious and excited how the new “Amani Tiwi Beach Resort” will finally look like and because of this we decided to come to your resort for a few days in february 2010 for our honeymoon. It would be very interesting to see, how you decided to rebuild this resort after the fire. Hopefully everything works well and you can realize your plans to open the resort at the beginning of next year.

Very sad about what happened to the hotel…I was shocked to visit the site in hopes of spending my vacation in your lovely hotel in the very near future. I hope everything works out perfectly and the family biashara is re-opened soon. The question i would like to ask, is when the resort is expected to be up and running. I know this is Africa
so things don´t always go as planned. But if there is a potential estimate as to when it may be finished, please let me know.
